Review: Instinct by Sherrilyn Kenyon

by Sherrilyn Kenyon
Series: Chronicles of Nick (#6)

Genre: Young Adult, Fansaty, Paranormal
Format: Hardcover

Rating: 5 Stars

I'm really not sure if I like this series more or DH. I seriously like Nick's sarcasm and that even when he's scared witless he deals with it as he's momma showed him to, with acceptance and pride.

This series seriously keeps getting better and better and although if compared to the events of DH it will make no sense it is moving along nicely. Now that Nick found the Eye I hope he can get his life back on track and that Ambrose will be back to be himself. I mean that guy has some serious cojones, even when in the brink of going all Darth Vader and joining the dark forces he held on to sanity for a few more seconds to warn Nick of what he needed to do to save them all.

Also I can pass up the mention of Cherise, poor thing doesn't know that she is the primary target to a whole bunch of WTF, no-way-no-how, you-can't-be-serious, that-$*!*'s-not-real, and I can't believe Mennie had anything to do with anything about Nick's birth. But as always Mrs. Kenyon keeps stacking up the crap in Nick's life and making us love every second of it!

Review: Vittorio's Woman by Kimberley Reeves's Woman
by Kimberley Reeves
Series: Vittorio (#1)
Published by: Self-Published by Author
January 15th 2015
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Format: eBook

Rating: 4 Stars

From the beginning of the book I was engaged by the characters. Lilly is very naive but not stupid, plus she's wealthy, not your typical i-need-a-man-who-can-help-me-come-out-of-my-debt's-and-who-will-spoil-me-and-make-me-his-trophy-wife heroine and Simon an alpha male who even if his pride is been bruised at least he knows that Lilly won't just walk out the door as soon as things get tough between them, I mean he's been rude to her and she's been able to see through him and still loves him.

The only thing that I found against the book is that the author kind of spoiled the book's outcome in the middle of the story. We will be able to make our own conclusions, please don't spoil it, and if you're going to say something about what the MC's want or don't as the case might be, hint to something other that the actual ending.

As for the rest, the book needs a little more editing, but I didn't put it against the story as the book was self-published and there wasn't that many errors throughout the book. Other that that it was a great captivating story and I am going to definitively be reading the next book.

ARC Review: The Duke's Disaster by Grace Burrowes

This book had me on edge from the first page. It was full of intrigue, anticipation, suspense and some action.

It was intriguing; it was a different sort of story from the usual virgin sacrifice, where the Lady is arrange to the marriage by her father or family patron to help keep the family from going penniless or to ensure an alliance. It was anticipating and suspenseful because it left you wondering at Lady Thea's past and kept you guessing and changing your mind every other chapter and it had some guns and knives involved in there somewhere too.

I fell in love with Noah and his willing to see the good in Thea even when he had his doubts about some of the things or her past even when I had the urge to hit him upside the head. As for Thea I think she turned out to be a great duchess, though she can do better, which I think she'll do with time and the love, acceptance and reassurance from her husband.

I will most assuredly be reading more of Mrs. Burrowes' books and I would like to read a book about Thea's brother Tims and/or Noha's brother Harlan.

Review: The Shadows by J.R. Ward Shadows
by J.R. Ward
Series: Black Dagger Brotherhood (#13)
Published by: NAL
March 31st 2015
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Format: Hardcover

Rating: 5 Stars

Not even 15% into the book and I was already fishing for the Kleenex! I can't put into words what a great, spectacular and awesome this book was. It was full of love, live, action and some VERY cry worthy scenes. This is my type of book.

I was very surprised with the direction of this book and even if I would have liked another outcome I can not think of any single thing I would have changed of this story. Trez and iAm have gone though a lot and I can really see why the story couldn't have gone any other way. iAm has given his everything to Trez for years, he has been there for the ups and downs and put his live on hold so that Trez could stay free. Now even when it seems that the world is ending, when there is no more hope, it's Trez turn to return the favor so that iAm can live his life and be happy.

With the side stories I am very intrigued as to what that convo between Anselm and his cousin was. What was his solution to the drug thing? What will he do now that his mayor buyer is no longer?

I can wait either for Layla and Xcor story. I am so mad at him! Why did he have to go and be with that female just because Layla found out he had a soft spot? It doesn't mean he isn't strong and a fierce warrior. Men!! Stupid, stupid men.

Also poor Rhage. This survivors guilt is driving him bananas and I can't wait for The Beast, the next BDB book to find out what more is waiting around the corner to mess with his life.

Last I want to take this opportunity to say that what I like most of J.R. Ward books is that even when she finishes a book her MC's don't fall to the sideways and disappear. They might be out of the picture in any given book but they are always there waiting in the background for a tiny chance to make a smartass remark. Also the fact that even when they have found their one, they let us know that they are happy but like in RL not all is sunshine and roses and they can too have marital problems.
